USB Talks To I2C
HOPEWELL, New Jersey USA, June 2, 2006 - Micro Computer Control Corporation (MCC) today announced the introduction of the iPort/USBTM, a USB to I2C Bus host adapter for system developers and test engineers. The iPort/USB combines the low-cost communication features of I2C with the ease of use found in USB devices.
The iPort/USB supports four selectable I2C Bus speeds, including Standard (100Kbps) and Fast (400Kbps) modes, performs bus Master and Slave operations, and provides I2C Bus Interrupt signal support. Controlled with a simple ASCII text command set, and a Virtual Communications Port interface that simplifies USB connectivity, the iPort/USB makes a good choice for communicating with I2C devices during product development, testing, and configuration.
The iPort/USB provides immediate access to I2C devices with its included Message Manager and Message Center application software, or a user can create custom applications using high-level commands.
Compatible with 3.3 V to 5 V buses, the iPort/USB can be powered from its USB interface or an external power supply. The iPort/USB is USB, MS WHQL, and CE certified, and is licensed by Philips to use the I2C Bus.
